Ruchi Strips & Alloys Limited, held a seminar at hotel Inder Residency, Ahmedabad on 15th Sep. 2010 on use of Energy Efficient Semi Process Electrical steel (under brand name of Rumag) for manufacturing stampings for use in induction motors for submersible pumps, compressor motors for Air Conditioners, Refrigerators, fans, washing machines & mixer grinders & other house Hold appliances.

Mr. Bhaskar Raval (Chief electricity inspector & collector of electricity of Gujarat state) was the chief guest at the above seminar & Mr.S.B Raval (Managing Director of PGVCL), Mr. Deepanshu Ahuja from BEE & Mr. RN Bhatt from GEDA were the guest of honor.

Mr. Umesh Shahra (Managing Director of Ruchi Strip & Alloys Ltd., Indore & Indian Steel Corporation Ltd., Gandhidham) shared his view on cold rolling with particular focus on Semi Process Electrical Steel. RSAL is pioneer in manufacturing of semi process electrical steel in India, under brand name of RUMAG & have more than 80% market share in organized branded semi process electrical steel. Rumag Steel is widely used in energy efficient motors for agricultural pumps, Air Conditioners & Refrigerators, Alternators, Fans, Washing  Machines etc.,

The product feature of Rumag on energy saving has been shared by Mr. P. Chellapa (President RSAL), Mr. SN Sadawarti (Sr. General Manager RSAL) & Mr. Arvind Mishra (Executive Director of RSAL).

Mr. Bhaskar Raval

Informed that Fossil fuel on earth is limited & we have to conserve it for next generation.  Also we have to search for alternative sources of Energy.  He gave examples of research going in USA to Tap Energy from the sun. He further informed that Electricity is the fifth fuel on earth after Coal, water, Gas & Petroleum products.

He conveyed his thanks to RSAL for taking initiative to create awareness towards save electricity by using good quality of Rumag steel in motors & pumps.

He informed that Gujarat Government has already undertaken a pilot project in North Gujarat by replacing inefficient Agricultural pumps with Energy Efficient pumps & savings up to 51% has been achieved.

 Mr. S.B.Raval, MD (PGVCL)

Mr. S.B.Raval highlighted the activities of PGVCL He informed that their office building is first 5 stars rated building by BEE in Gujarat. He further informed that they are generating power from Coal, Hydro & wind at present.  They are also going for solar option.  They are taking steps to minimize transmission losses. PGVCL has taken steps save power in the Government buildings by use of CFL lamps, Electronic Ballasts.

Mr. R L Bhatt (GEDA)

He said that GEDA is oldest agency established in 1979 engaged in conserving energy.

He also informed that Gujarat Govt. has sufficient funds in state budget for energy conservation & their dept. is doing energy audit for Industries. They are supporting to manufactures of Solar Cookers, Solar water Heaters, Wind Generators/Pumps, Giving financial assistance  in replacing Inefficient Agricultural pumps with that of Energy efficient Pump sets.

GEDA is doing Energy Audit for various industries & suggests 7 main ways to minimize Energy consumption.

He also said that energy conservation is very much important in today’s scenario. As per him “Energy saved is nothing but Energy Generated”.

Mr. Deepanshu Ahuja (BEE)

He gave presentation on the activities of BEE. He informed that BEE is focusing on star labeling which enables the consumer to select product based on power consumption. He informed that this step has resulted in saving power to the tune of Rs. 2500 Crores in the Year 2009. He gave the list of products which are under mandatory Star rating & products which are at present under voluntary category & same will come under Mandatory category soon.
